PAT WILLIAMS

Pat is one of the most well known and certainly most respected tennis pros in the Triad area. His enthusiasm for tennis and coaching is not only infectious but inspiring.

Pat came to the Cardinal Golf & Country Club in February 2005, having served as Tennis Pro at Lake Jeanette Country Club for 4 years and Sedgefield Country Club for 4 1/2 years. Their loss was our gain, as Pat single-handedly increased participation in Cardinal team and recreational tennis by 100% in a single year. He currently coaches Division I - IV of the Cardinal Gate City ladies' tennis team and several USTA teams, along with a very loyal following of tennis enthusiasts who have worked with Pat at other Clubs throughout his career.

Pat's gift for coaching spans all ages from preschoolers to seniors. He has developed several junior tennis players who have gone on to play for Division I schools. After just two years of coaching high school boys' and girls' tennis, he received the 1999 Piedmont 3A Conference Coach of the Year Award. As the women's tennis coach at Greensboro College for 5 years, Pat led the team into a record winning season of 17-3 and one player into the NCAA Championship.

A gifted athlete in his own right, Pat grew up playing tennis and basketball in the Sandhills area of NC. At Union Pines High School, Pat helped the school earn the 1991 State High School Tennis Championship. Pat played tennis and basketball at Greensboro College where he received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1996. While at Greensboro College, Pat was awarded Most Valuable Player of the Men's Tennis Team and also served as Captain of the Men's Basketball Team.
